Repeat Customer back for a special grazing board.

This custom grazing board was made to specifications from it's new owner.

At a meter long and 30cm wide it will command a prime spot on the dining table, and yet because it is made from Camphor Laurel it is not too heavy.

Deep blue epoxy contrasts beautifully with the timber and it is finished in my house blend of wax and oils for a soft lustre and easy maintenance.

Matte black handles and rubber feet finish it off from a functional point of view.

Not every project has to be huge. This restoration of a sculpture damaged in high winds was an absolute pleasure.

We were able to keep it close to the original artists work and then seal with marine grade product.

The addition of a rusted plow disc base plate will give much needed stability too.

I started with a self imposed brief of ‘no metal in construction & timber I already have’.

It’s been a few months since I started this hall table.

I started with a self imposed brief of ‘no metal in construction & timber I already have’.

So the only metal is the drawer runners and screws to hold them in.

All Mountain Gum except for some pieces of Jarrah as a feature.

Purple epoxy river with double waterfall edges actually flows a lot better than I had thought it would.

Instead of using a table saw for the mitre joins in the waterfall I used the CNC to cut them. This meant the usual loses due to blade thickness were all but eliminated and so the grain flows over the edge cleanly.

Finished in Odies Oil - my first time using that product but I’m going to say I like it.

It’s been many weeks in the making but here it is ready to use.
It’s been a pleasure helping the guys with this project.
And thanks to Dayne at Health of Mind Art is due as well.
Hope your Friday finishes with something great too.

Whilst I’m happy to admit that my prowess with video production is nowhere near my talent with timber and metal, it has been a fun process and I hope it is informative for you.

Here is a basic reference chart for you to look at, with the 3 brands involved in my initial round of tests.

I can attest to the shelf life claims made here as I have had LuciClear sit in my shed for over 18 months and it did not crystallise like many other brands do. However, please note that even if they do crystallise, it is easy to return them to useable state by warming a little. This can be done in the microwave for small volumes or in warm water for larger amounts.
